Alpsankhayak Kalyan Yojana launched in Himachal to ensure welfare of minority section

Shimla, August 7: The “Mukhyamantri Alpsankhayak Kalyan Yojana” was launched in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday for ensuring welfare of the minority section of the society.

 

Under the “Mukhyamantri Alpsankhayak Kalyan Yojana” which was launched by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, marriage grant of Rs. 25000 would be provided to the girls belonging to poor Muslim families, Rs. 5000 financial assistance would be provided for medical treatment to poor Muslim family and social security pension of Rs. 400 per month would be provided to old, widows and physically challenged Muslim persons being given through Waqf board.

After launching the scheme, CM Jai Ram Thakur said that the minority section of the State has played an important role in the development of the State. He further stated that in the first Cabinet meeting of the State Government, decision was made to reduce the age limit for getting old age pension from the existing 80 years to 70 years.

The CM also added that decision of the State Government has benefitted about 1.30 lakh old people of the State. “The State Government would also provide adequate space for burial ground (Kabristan) of the Muslims communities and all the Deputy Commissioners would be asked to identify adequate land,” he noted. Jai Ram Thakur, in the end, said that Gujjar Bhawan would be constructed in Chamba as soon as suitable land was identified.

Asif Jalal, Chairman State Wakf Board Rajbali thanked the Chief Minister for providing financial assistance for the marriage of the girls belonging to poor Muslim families. He urged the Chief Minister to construct Gujjar Bhawan at Chamba. He said that the Wakf Board would provide Rs 5000 for treatment of poor.
