Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar rings KCR; seeks support for RS Deputy Chairman poll

New Delhi, Aug 7: Ahead of the crucial election of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today called on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and personally sought the support for the candidature of MP Harivansh Narayan Singh.

According to media reports, the Bihar Chief Minister urged Telangana Rashtra Samithi to back Janata Dal lawmaker Harivansh Narayan Singh for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. As announced by Rajya Sabha chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu, the election of Deputy Chairman will take place on August 9.

Earlier, Speculations were rife about K. Chandrasekhar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s alleged entry into NDA. On Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought support for various pending issues. According to media reports, K. Chandrasekhar Rao will take the final call after consulting key party members.

Senior Janata Dal (U) leader Harivansh Narayan Singh will be the official candidate of National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate for the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
