NIA’s crackdown continues one after other; arrests Bodhgaya blast Kingpin Mohammad Jahidul Islam from Bengaluru

Bengaluru, August 8: Ahead of Independence Day, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is acting swiftly to eradicate terrorism from the country and as well as the terrorists who have rocked the country and killed innocents. Mohammad Jahidul Islam alias Munna, a Kingpin of Bodhgaya blast was nabbed by National Investigation Agency (NIA) from a hideout in Bengaluru city on Monday this week.

 

Continuing its effort to clamp down terrorists one after the other, the central probe agency arrested Mohammad Jahidul Islam from Ramagara, around 50 kilometres from Bengaluru, Karnataka. However, this comes days after NIA arrested Abdul Karim alias Chhota and Mustafizur Rehman alias Shaheen alias Tuhin on August 3.

Both Abdul Karim and Mustafizur Rehman were arrested from the labour camp of Bengali speaking persons in Mallapuram in Kerala. During the preliminary interrogation, the two arrested by NIA revealed the location of Mohammad Jahidul Islam who was involved in Bodhgaya blast and Burdwan blast.

After the specific input, NIA arrested Mohammad Jahidul Islam. Islam is amongst senior men of Islamic terrorist group named Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen and the Bangladesh government has issued a death warrant against him. During the search, the central probe agency recovered some electronic devices besides traces of explosives.

During its hard-core investigation in Bodhgaya blast case, the NIA has established the identity of 10 persons involved in the conspiracy. So far 5 have been arrested. The NIA further says that the conspiracy was hatched by ten persons belonging to the Bangladesh based outfit, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh.

On Monday, NIA also arrested a member the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group was arrested at Delhi airport after Saudi Arabia deported him. Habibur Rahaman, who once lived Kendrapara district in Odisha, was the handler of Lashkar terrorist Shaikh Abdul Naeem, who was arrested in 2007 for trying to infiltrate terrorists into India and escaped in August 2014. He was again arrested in November 2017. Habibur alias Habib, Naeem and eight other people were formally charged before a court on terrorism charges in November 2017.
