Embracing Defence sector, ‘Make in India’ gifts K9 VAJRA-T army tank to Indian brave-hearts

New Delhi, August 9: With Make in India strengthening the manufacturing infrastructure, India’s very robust and important sector “Defence” off lately has involved an army tank solely for the Indian Army. By demonstrating its ability to handle Indian as well as all NATO standard ammunition, K9 VAJRA-T has proven its excellent conformability to any field artillery unit. This "Made In India" Army Tanks are being produced by the defence unit of the Larsen & Toubro.

This army tank termed as K9 VAJRA-T, the army tank is initiated in meeting all the requirements of mobility, protection and accuracy during warfare. Meeting the increasing requirements of the 21st century warfare, K9 VAJRA-T 155mm/ 52 Cal. Tracked Self-Propelled Howitzer is based on certain following missions. These include:

  • Deep fire support with its longer firing range
  • Qualitative superiority to overcome a numerical inferiority with its higher rate of fire and accuracy
  • Effective and reliable fire support in all kinds of circumstances
  • Higher mobility and protection.
Describing the product, Larsen & Toubro (Defence) General Manager Amitabha Ghosh informed NewsBharati that the product is a part of Make in India project and also that it is part of a 155 mm Tracked SP Gun program where we are required to deliver 100 units to Indian Army. This project was won by L&T under Buy Global category and against global competition. The Gun is based on technology partnership from M/s Hanwha TechWin South Korea.
 

The K9 VAJRA-T is a variant of K9 Thunder which is inarguably the world's best 155mm/52 Cal.SPH in terms of a number of systems in active service. Currently, K9 Thunder is serving as one of the main conventional preventive forces for a number of armies including the Korean Army. K9 Thunder has established its superiority through demonstrations and evaluation tests at various proving grounds in extreme weather conditions, jungles, barren deserts and severely cold areas.
