Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy meets Prime Minister Modi; seeks funds for flood-affected region

New Delhi, Sept 10: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought center’s aid for the flood-affected districts, especially for most affected Kodagu.

On this occasion, former Prime Minister and JD(S) President HD Deve Gowda, Senior Cabinet Minister D K Shivakumar and other officials were present.

According to media reports, the Chief Minister briefed Modi about the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation actives and urged Central government for the financial assistance of Rs 1,118.40 crore.

Earlier, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had toured the flood-affected Kodagu district and took the stock of ground zero.

On this occasion, Kumaraswamy presented a book titled, “The Open Eyes: A Journey through Karnataka”. In 1976, renowned poet, columnist and travel writer Sir Dom Moraes had penned the book depicting the rich heritage, culture, and art of Karnataka.
