Gift before Ganesh Chaturthi! CM Vasundhara Raje announces 2 percent hike in DA for state govt employees, pensioners

Jaipur, September 11: Giving up what they deserve, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government on Monday increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of state government employees and pensioners by two percent.

 

With this comprehensive increase, the Dearness Allowance now goes to nine percent which was earlier only seven percent. In accordance with the new decision, at least 8,00,000 employees and 3,50,000 pensioners will be benefitted from it.

The increased DA for the period between July 1 and August 31 will be added to the General Provident Fund Account of the employees. The cash payment will commence from September 1. Further, the arrear of the DA between July 1 and August 31 for the employees who were recruited to civil services on or after January 1, 2004, will be paid in cash.

Also, people falling under the Contributory pension scheme will also be paid in cash. With the increase in DA, the state government will now have to spend extra Rs. 5.47 billion in the current fiscal year.

The announcement from Rajasthan government comes a day after CM Vasundhara Raje announced a whopping 4 percent reduction in a VAT (Value Added Tax) on the prices of petrol and diesel. After the reduction of VAT, the prices of petrol and diesel will go down by 2 rupees 50 paise per litre in the state. The revised rates came into effect from Sunday midnight. The decision will cost the exchequer 2,000 crore rupees.
