Security forces gunned down two Lashkar terrorists in North Kashmir's Kupwara district

Srinagar, September 11: Security forces on Tuesday early morning eliminated two terrorists belonged to Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT) terror outfit after an encounter that took place in Handwara, a village in North Kashmir's Kupwara district.

 

After receiving a specific input, security forces including Indian Army's 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the 92 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) jointly cordoned off Guloora area in Handwara village in North Kashmir's Kupwara district.

Soon after, the joint team of security forces fired several gunshots, which led to a fierce encounter. In retaliation, security forces successfully eliminated two Lashkar terrorists. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

The slain terrorists have been identified as Liyaqat from Harwan in Baramulla district's Sopore and 18-year-old Furkaan from Langate in Kupwara district's Handwara. Both the men were locals, and one of them only recently became a terrorist.

This comes at least two days after Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid and arrested three terrorists in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir while they were trying to infiltrate the borders. On Saturday last week, a Lashkar terrorist was eliminated after a fierce encounter that took place in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Importantly, under Operation-All Out, a total of 134 terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Al Badr, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind have been eliminated in the first eight months of this year i.e from January 1 to August 31. While in the month of August, 25 terrorists were eliminated which is highest in a month this year.
