Gujarat to partner with US-based solar companies

Gandhinagar, Sept 12: In a bid to boost the solar energy sector, Gujarat government has decided to partner with the US-based solar firms. Recently, Energy Minister Saurabh Patel had a brief interaction with a delegation from Colorado where the officials cleared the desk for the proposed deal.

Speaking to the media, Patel announced that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. He opined that the collaboration between Gujarat and Colorado will strengthen the existing Solar eco-system in the state.

The Energy Minister said that an official e-vehicle policy will be launched to promote the green transportation. He further added that plans are being chalked out for research in the emerging sectors like Solar and of e-vehicles.

According to media reports, the US-based energy firm will assist Gujarat in setting up a solar park with the generation capacity of 1000 MW. Along with this, the Colorado government will provide Solar panels specially designed for Agriculture activities.

In order to study global models for energy distribution, the state government is keen to team up with internationally acclaimed research institutions and companies from the US.
