Panaji, September 17: CM Manohar Parrikar has been admitted to the AIIMS, Delhi from Saturday due to suffering from a pancreatic ailment. Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the AIIMS to inquire about the health of CM Parrikar on Sunday.

In his tweet, Minister Rajnath Singh wrote, “Visited AIIMS to inquire about the health of Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar ji. Also spoke to the doctors who are supervising his treatment. I pray for his good health and quick recovery.”

"He is clearing files. Today, I got four files cleared by him. If he was not there, how could these have been cleared? When I met him the other day, he was clearing files. So where is the question of giving charge to anybody or giving anything else?" Public Works Department Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said.

CM Parrikar flew to the United States for the treatment, the last month after which he joined the office. Earlier in February, a section of the media had reported that Parrikar was suffering from advanced stage IV pancreatic cancer. However, the hospital denied this.

Parrikar had complained of stomach pain on February 14 and was rushed to the GMCH and taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai the following day, which was then attributed to "food poisoning".

Soon after he was admitted to the Mumbai hospital, the Chief Minister's Office steadfastly maintained that Parrikar was suffering from "mild pancreatitis" and he was expected to be discharged shortly.

Parrikar returned to Goa on February 22 to deliver a truncated annual budget speech, but alarms bells sounded when he was again hospitalized on February 25 at the Goa Medical College and Hospital after officials claimed he suffered a bout of "dehydration" and "blood pressure".
