New Delhi, Sept 17: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) wants transformation through collective strength and concurrence of common people, said Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat here Monday.

He was addressing selective audience drawn from various fields like industry, media, politics, bureaucracy, diplomats, sports, entertainment, literature, music etc. at Vigyan Bhavan in a three-day program series titled “Bhavishya ka Bharat – An RSS Perspective”. The three-day conclave is organized by the RSS to carry the correct message about RSS and present its perspective and vision on future of India to the leaders and opinion makers from all walks of life so that they could understand what the RSS is.

As Bhagwat entered the Vigyan Bhavan audience flanked by RSS Uttar Kshetra Sanghchalak Dr Bajrang Lal Gupta, Kulbhushan, Sanghchalak of Delhi and Alok Kumar, Working president of VHP the audience welcomed him in reverence and the program began with singing of Vande Mataram.

Dr. Bajranglal Gupta made the introductory remarks and explained the idea behind organizing such an event in the capital. He said that this event is a dialogue, speech discourse and address at the same time as it will unfold the various shades of the vision of RSS in regard to future of Bharat.

In his almost an hour-long speech pointedly underlined that the RSS does not want to dominate. If people say that such a change has happened due to RSS domination that would be an insult to this organization. We want that positive change should come from the collective strength of the common people, he said adding that Sangh has been engaged in this mission of arousing the collective strength of the common people of Bharat.

Referring to various service activities of the RSS swayamsevaks he said that we do not pat ourselves for the service we render to the society in times of distress or otherwise, but we serve them with a totally selfless attitude. People even remark that the RSS has created faceless persons. “Yes”, Dr Bhagwat said, “that is necessary to save them from being overpowered by their individual ego”.

He said that the various organizations inspired by Sangh engaged in in different fields of social and national life are independent, autonomous, and self-reliant. The RSS swayamsevkas associated with them meet occasionally to exchange views and ideas and refresh them, Sarasanghchalak said.

Stating that the RSS work is unique and incomparable, Dr Bhagwat said “RSS is the most open and democratic organization”. The mission of RSS is to prepare men with sterling character who have intense love and affection for the entire society and accepts everyone as his own.

Stating that to understand the RSS it was necessary to understand the personality of RSS founder Dr Hedgewar, Dr Bhagwat spoke at length of the contribution of this great visionary to all efforts to secure freedom of the country in those days, how he arrived at the conclusion that only an organized Hindu society could overcome all the odds and restore the lost glory of our Motherland and how he evolved the methodology of RSS by involving all the swayamsevaks.

He said the RSS honoured the national tricolor from the day one and cited example of one swayamasevak Kisansing Rajput of Faizpur who risked his life to climb a high flag post to untie the knot and unfurl the national tricolor in a Congress session attended by Pt Nehru. Nehru was pleased at his heroism and decided to honour him but later dropped the idea as he was told about his being an RSS swayamsevak. Dr Hedgwar later during his visit to Faizpur called Kisansing and honoured him a silver memento. Recalling this event Dr Bhagwat said that the RSS has been associated with the honour of the Tricolour since its birth.

He also touched the most asked question about entry to women in the RSS. He clarified that during Dr Hedgewar’s time this question was raised by a woman who wanted similar training to be imparted to the girls and women. But Dr. Hedgewar had said that the Sangh had confined itself to organizing the Hindu men but would consider imparting training to a woman who would further train others. So the lady agreed and started the Rashtra Sevika Samiti in 1936 which is now an all India organization of women.

RSS and Rashtra Sevika Samiti are the two parallel orgnaisations wedded to a common goal, and they would remain so, Dr. Bhagwat said.

He said that the Sangh is busy in man-making and character building mission. But the swayamsevaks so trained are free to go the fields of their choice and work there. The RSS expects that they should follow the discipline of that particular field and serve the society with love and affection.

Dr. Bhagwat also said that Sangh is an organization of all and therefore the programs are so selected that all can participate in them. The RSS is self-reliant and manages its finances from the ‘Gurudaxina’ offered by the swayamsevaks once in a year in front of ‘Bhagwa Dhwaj’ which the RSS has accepted as its ‘Guru’.
