Camaraderie going strong! India and Bangladesh jointly unveil pipeline and railway projects

New Delhi, September 19: Geographically being neighbors, emotionally we are family cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi while jointly unveiling the e-plaques for the ground-breaking ceremony of two projects, via video conference along with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. These pipeline projects assert to fortify the bilateral cooperation along with strengthening national and urban transport in Bangladesh.

 

External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, also joined the proceedings. The projects include: (a) India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (b) Dhaka-Tongi-Joydebpur Railway Project.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi described the cooperation between the two countries as an example for the world. He said that the neighbors, geographically; and family, emotionally. He said the proposed pipeline will further energize, not just Bangladesh's economy, but also the relationship between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the proposed railway project will be contributing to the process of strengthening national and urban transport in Bangladesh.

Further PM Modi also acclaimed the efforts taken by both the countries on developing relations and slating forward an example for the entire world that whether it is decades-old border disputes, or projects of development cooperation, India and Bangladesh has made unprecedented progress on all subjects.

He emphasized saying that that the Indo-Bangladesh Friendship pipeline will add a new chapter in the epic of mutual cooperation for development. Energy is a basic necessity for the development of any country. And this pipeline will be able to fulfill Bangladesh's ambitious development goals, especially in the northern part of Bangladesh where this pipeline will provide energy at a cheap price.

PM Modi said that this pipeline is being made from India's grant finance; it is a matter of great pride for India that after completion of the work it will be dedicated to the government and people of Bangladesh.

Similarly, the rail project will not only help the people of Dhaka and road traffic but also increase freight revenue. This railway project will also help in the campaign to improve the national and urban transport of Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh relations have grown considerably over a period of time with this joint inauguration being the second in recent intervals. Earlier the Prime Minister’s jointly inaugurated three projects which include a power supply, rail link, and rehabilitation for railway sections through video conference.
