It’s a century! PM Modi gifts Sikkim its first and India, its 100th scenic Pakyong airport boosting tourism

Sikkim, September 24: Gifting the serene beauty Sikkim its first airport, the Pakyong airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that with this India has created a century in regards to building airport giving a major thrust to tourism in the state. PM Modi gifted Sikkim airport to the people of the state which will be operational from October 4, giving a boost to tourism and employment.

 

With the Pakyong airport being Sikkim’s first and the country’s 100th functional airport, the aim has always been to allow major tourism to marvel at the beauty and attraction of the state.

With the UDAN Scheme rising on a high note, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acclaimed the marvel laid by the engineering feat to design this beautiful airport which has a 1.75 km runway and a 116-meter-long taxiway. This airport is perched between the Himalayan ranges at 4,500 feet above sea level.

Adjoining the airport with the UDAN scheme, PM Modi said that the government has made traveling by airways easier and cheaper as it has for AC trains. PM Modi further added that he dreams of giving ‘Hawai chappal, a Hawai yatra’ with this development of releasing airport. This inauguration of the airport will also deal with giving a major boost to employment opportunities.

 

Taking a sly jibe at the previous government, PM Modi said that in the past 67 years, there had been only 65 airports in our country until 2014. So technically it means, they created 1 airport in an average in one year compared to the present government building 9 airports in a year on an average and today 100 airports will be operational as our government has connected people through aviation by building 35 airports in the past 4 years.

 

PM Modi also emphasized saying that the government is making efforts to promote organic farming initiating their work under the traditional agricultural development scheme. In North East, the government has run the Organic Value Development for Northeastern Region. It has a provision of around Rs 400 crore.

 

Likewise, there are immense efforts taken by the government in creating a firm robust base for people to connect with Northeast. The Prime Minister also said that the traveling from Guwahati and West Bengal to soon start working.

Well, as we know how enthusiastic our Prime Minister Modi is! PM Modi turned photographer on his way to Sikkim displaying the scenic beauty of the state on his twitter handle. PM Modi called the state "serene and splendid" and used the hashtag Incredible India, which is the tagline for India's tourism. Other adjectives that the prime minister used to describe the state were "enchanting and incredible.

 

PM Modi reached Sikkim in an MI-8 chopper from Bagdogra and was received by Governor Ganga Prasad, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and others at Libing Army Helipad. The Pakyong airport is located around 60 km from the Indo-China border.
