Ministerial panel to examine Kerala special cess : FM Jaitley

New Delhi, Sept 28: In order to address the financial issues faced by the state of Kerala, Central government today cleared the desk for a special Kerala cess.
Speaking to the media on the backdrop of the 30th GST Council meeting, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that, a seven-member Group of Ministers comprising members of North East, hill and coastal states will take the final call on proposed Calamity Tax.
Earlier, Kerala’s Finance Minister Thomas Isaac had suggested a pan India cess which will help flood-affected Kerala for a speedy recovery with the availability of additional resources.
