Amethi, September 3: Emitting digital accessibility in the interiors of India, Union Minister Smriti Irani launched the Digital Village initiative in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Under the initiative, Digital village will cover 48 villages. People can access 206 government services by using the Common Service Centre.

Well, taking into consideration the area from the election perspective, Rahul Gandhi has an upper hand in Amethi. But as Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi is getting digitalized, all credit hails and huge thanks to Union Minister Smriti Irani to connect the people through digitalization.

As part of Digital India program, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani inaugurated the 'Digi Gaon' initiative at a village in Amethi district on Saturday. She also launched India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) at the head post office of Amethi in Amethi town to boost the payment services in post offices. She also inaugurated the Common Service Centre (CSC) that would provide digital access to 206 government services, at Pindara Thakur village in Musafirkhana block in Amethi.

This programme has been launched by the Department of Telecommunications and it will cover as many as 48 villages near Pindara Thakur. The Union minister said the Narendra Modi-led central government is leaving "no stone unturned" for all-round development of all corners of the country, including Amethi where people "still feel cheated" in this regard.

Under the digital banking service, people will be able to open bank accounts with the use of their thumb impression and the lengthy paperwork and documentation would be done.

Smriti Irani has been grooming her one-time constituency even after her defeat at the hands of the Gandhi scion and the BJP is likely to field her again in 2019 from Amethi. The union minister has accused the Congress president of ignoring the constituency even though the people here have been standing with the Gandhi clan through many elections.
