At least 22 lakh people of Himachal benefitted from centre, state govt welfare schemes

Shimla, September 4: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur directed the officials of the State Government to ensure speedy and time-bound execution of all the central and state-sponsored welfare and developmental schemes so that benefits could reach to the people soon.

 

While reviewing the progress of Central and State Governments welfare schemes, CM Jai Ram Thakur said that 22 lakh people of the State would be benefitted from it. He said that 94 percent data had been uploaded under the scheme and State was at the 7th position in the country. He said that implementing agency had already been appointed.

Jai Ram Thakur said that Ujjawala Yojna of Central Government and Mukhya Mantri Grihini of the State Government were proving beneficial for women especially those living in rural areas. He said that as many as 73110 LPG connections have been provided so far to the eligible families in the State under Ujjawala Yojna and all eligible families would be given such connections before 2019.

While showing his displeasure over slow progress under the Urban Housing Scheme, Chief Minister said that the department should work with missionary zeal for providing a house to the houseless poor. Expressing satisfaction over targets achieved under rural housing scheme, he said that Himachal Pradesh had been ranked second in the country for implementation of this scheme and Kangra district had been awarded Prime Minister's Award for its effective implementation.

While reviewing the progress under 'Saubhagya Yojna' he said that 100 percent census villages had been electrified in the State and out of a target of 13156 electricity connections, 6101 had been provided connections and remaining 7055 connections to newly developed hamlets would be provided by the end of October this year.

Chief Minister said that the State Government has also launched several welfare schemes for development and upliftment of weaker sections of the society. “The State Government soon after assuming the office decided to lower the age of old persons without income criteria from 80 years to 70 years which had benefitted 1.14 lakh old persons. Now, about 2.14 lakh old persons were getting social security pension of Rs. 1300 above the age of 70 years,” the CM concluded.
