Central team reviews flood ravaged Nagaland, assures complete support

Guwahati, September 5: As Nagaland continues to fight against tough flood; an Inter-Ministerial Central Team arrived in Nagaland to assess the damages caused by floods and landslides. The central team along with state officials visited the flood-ravaged areas of Dimapur district on Tuesday.

The team inspected the Balijan Bridge of Vihokhu village and visited the damaged plantation site at Nuiland in Dimapur. The central team members also interacted with the affected people. The team, headed by Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry KB Singh, will visit Wokha, Kohima and Phek districts later on a visit.

The inter-ministerial central team is accompanied by the officials from Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority and State Home Department to the worst affected areas for on-the-spot-assessment assessment of the damages. Nagaland has been experiencing heavy rain since July, causing floods and landslides which claimed 12 lives besides damaging properties and infrastructure.

Home Commissioner Nagaland R. Ramakrishnan said the IMCT team will visit Bhandari areas under Wokha district for the inspection of major crop damages, after which they would proceed to Wokha and have a short interaction with District Disaster Management Authority Wokha. The team would proceed to Kohima and take stock of the major landslides in and around Kohima district which is scheduled on Wednesday.
