Wanted terrorist Touseef Ahmad Gundna belonged to Hizbul outfit arrested in JK

Srinagar, September 5: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday arrested a wanted terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit named as Touseef Ahmad Gundna form Kishtawar district.

 

Notably, Touseef Ahmad Gundna alias Abu Bakar, who was involved in encouraging young men and women to join the outfit and revive terror activity in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district was arrested by the state police after receiving a specific input.

Touseef was being searched by Kishtwar Police since July 1 when two terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested along with arms, ammunition and explosives and a terror plan was thwarted.

A police spokesman said, “A police party headed by Manoj Kumar, DySP DAR under the supervision of SSP Rajinder Gupta raided a hideout and arrested Gundna, who was also involved in case FIR No. 41/2017 under Sections 7/25 Arms Act and 3/5 Explosives Act of Parimpora, Srinagar.”

Police spokesman said that one more arrest in the case was expected. He further added that the terror activities would come down in Kishtwar district with the arrest of accused.

Touseef Ahmad Gudna was a close associate of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Mohammad Amin alias Jehangir. He was also in touch with another terrorist in Latti in 2017 Gundna had a meeting with Jehangir and had acted as conduit for transferring money to Jehangir's wife.

This comes two days after the reports emerged of a youth named Haroon Abbas Wani hailing from Doda district of Jammu division joined terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.

According to official sources, the total strength of local terrorists active in Kashmir valley has now crossed 200 mark. At present more than 300 terrorists are active in Kashmir valley, official sources claimed adding 211 are locals and 116 are foreign nationals.

Local terrorists are active in South Kashmir districts while a majority of foreign nationals are active in North Kashmir districts. Out of the three terrorist outfits active in Kashmir valley Lashkar-e- Toiba has the maximum number of active terrorists followed by Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e- Mohammad.
