Hyderabad, September 6: Amidst the ongoing hassle and the political parties gearing up for the 2019 elections, the Telangana state government on Thursday gave a blow to the country as it decided to dissolve the State Assembly.

At a Cabinet meeting in the afternoon, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, obtained the nod of his colleagues on dissolving the Assembly and immediately reached the Raj Bahan seeking the Governor ESL Narasimhan to recommend for early polls.

It has been noted that the Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao is said to be against holding the Assembly elections with the Lok Sabha elections, which are together scheduled for around April-May 2019 in the normal course.

In a press communique, the Principal Secretary to the Governor said that KCR and his council of Ministers called on the Governor and presented the resolution, “recommending the dissolution of the First Legislative Assembly of Telangana State.”

The statement added that the Governor accepted the recommendation and asked KCR and his cabinet to continue in office as a caretaker government. Assembly elections in normal course would have been conducted along with the Lok Sabha polls, but all eyes are now the EC's decision. Officially, the Assembly’s term expires on May 2019 and elections in normal course would be conducted along with the Lok Sabha polls.
