Seoul, September 7: With South Korean envoy meeting North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un on sidelines of their next summit, the envoys informed that Kim Jong-un told a South Korean envoy that he wanted to denuclearize North Korea before Donald Trump’s current term ends in early 2021.

The South Korean national security adviser, Chung Eui-Yong said that Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in will meet in the North Korean capital on September 18-20, during which they will discuss "practical measures" toward denuclearization.

Chung further stated that Kim Jong Un told the South Korean officials that his faith in Trump remains "unchanged" and he wanted to denuclearize and end long-standing hostile relations between North Korea and the United States during Trump's first term ending early 2021. North Korean leader’s remarks to South Korean officials marked the first time that the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has offered a potential timeline for dismantling his country's nuclear weapons programme.

Chung elucidated saying that the North Korean leader "reaffirmed his determination to completely denuclearize" the peninsula, and expressed his willingness for close cooperation with South Korea and the United States in that regard.

Welcoming Kim's remarks, US President Donald Trump pledged to complete a deal on denuclearizing the Korean peninsula, signaling that negotiations remain alive after weeks of an apparent deadlock.
