Security forces gunned down one unidentified terrorist in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, September 8: Security forces on Friday late night eliminated an unknown terrorist after a fierce encounter that took place in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The combat operation is still on and body of slain terrorist along with arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter spot.

 

Notably, the encounter began after terrorists attacked a police picket at Achabal area in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. In retaliatory action, one terrorist was killed and his weapon was recovered. Following the attack, security forces launched a massive search operation in nearby areas to hunt down other terrorists.

This comes at least two days after security forces foiled the major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir and killed a Pakistani terrorist. On Wednesday, a wanted terrorist Touseef Ahmad Gundna alias Abu Bakar who belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was arrested from Kishtawar district.

In August this year, Indian troopers foiled the infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir and eliminated one unidentified Pakistani terrorist. Under Operation-All Out, a total of 134 terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Al Badr, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind have been eliminated in the first eight months of this year i.e from January 1 to August 31. While in the month of August, 25 terrorists were eliminated which is highest in a month this year.
