Pride of every Indian: Today world is celebrating #VishwaHindiDivas

New Delhi, Jan 10: ‘Everything will change, everything will transform but our pride and love about the Hindi language never fade away’, this is the feeling of every Indian and NRI today, because today is ‘Vishwa Hindi Divas’ or ‘World Hindi Day’.

 
 
Every year 10 January is celebrated as World Hindi Day. This initiative was started with the objective of promotion of the use of Hindi language.
 
The official celebration of this day started from 2006 when then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh started this initiative. Ever since this day celebrated on immensely across the world every year.
 
 
The India Embassy in Norway was first to celebrate World Hindi Day, and after that every year they celebrate this day under Indian Norwegian Information and Cultural Forum.
 
Under the article 343 of Indian Constitution, The official Language of the Indian Union has been prescribed which includes Hindi in Devnagari script and English.

On this day, in 1975, the first “World Hindi Conference” was organized in Nagpur by then PM Indira Gandhi. This first conference held from 10-12 January 1975. This conference was attended by 122 delegates from 30 countries. not only India, But also UK, US, Mauritius, Trinidad, and Tobago also held World Hindi Conferences.
 
 
 
Hindi is the language of 250 million people and it is the 4th language of the world. Apart from India, Nepal, US, Mauritius, Fiji, South Africa, Suriname, Uganda, UK, New Zealand, Germany, Trinidad and Tobago, and Singapore have Hindi speaking population.
 
Hindi is adopted as an official language of Pacific Island country Fiji.
 
In 2007, according to governmental report, the government started immediate diplomatic move for seeking the official status of an official Language for Hindi in UN. In 2009, the Government of India is actively working for this demand. In 2015, Nepal’s Vice President Parmanand Jha specified his firm support for Hindi as an official language of UN.
 
 
Now, from last 3 years, Indian diplomats are pressing this demand more and more vigorously in UN.
 
National Hindi Divas and World Hindi day are totally different. National Hindi Diwas was first celebrated on September 14 in 1949 when the Constitution of India declared Hindi written in Devanagari Script as an official language. The day is observed within the country only.
