Historic Success of winter session of Parliament but more fruitful work expected: Narendra Singh Tomar

New Delhi, Jan 10: “This is the historic success of LokSabha and RajyaSabha that it passes Quota Bill. I would like to thank members of both the houses of Parliament who have approved 10 per cent reservation quota bill for general category, the 124th Constitution Amendment bill was passed in both houses of the Parliament.” Said, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today in New Delhi.



The Parliament had on Wednesday approved amending the Constitution to provide 10 per cent reservation to general category poor in government jobs and education.

In this winter session, 29 working days around 17 sittings were arranged LokSabha. 18 sessions in RajyaSabha. Among the 17 bills which were tabled in both houses, 14 were passed. In Rajya Sabha 4 bills were passed. The total number of bills passed in both houses are five. Loksabha witness 37% work in this session and Rajya Sabha witnessed 27% work. Singh regrets that more fruitful work was expected in this session but the circumstances not allowed doing so.

We had a discussion on grant demands. Teen Talak, Insurance amendment ordinance and company amendment ordinance were passed in LokSabha. Members have completed discussion on Rafale deal. Members were eager to discuss on natural calamity situation in Kerala, Tamilnadu, Odisha. We started this discussion under 193 but could not complete. Under Annexure 356, the announcement made for in Jammu and Kashmir was passed in Lok Sabha.

Singh mentioned the success of Aadhar and citizenship amendment bill. He thanked all media house and media persons for work hard for the telecast of parliamentary work.
