Col Rathore tells how Maths was his Waterloo: NDA cadets enjoy memoirs of Olympic Gold medallist

Pune, Jan 10: Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore visited National Defence Academy in Pune. As alumni of this great institution, he remembered his classroom days. He said he remembered the day when was leaving Delhi. “We were also backbenchers here, we used to seat and planned about all the moves that would be played on the ground. Colonel Rathod in Pune since yesterday to kick start Khelo India youth games.

 

He also remembered about the maths teacher of academics in NDA. “He said Maths was my Waterloo and I used to be always late for Maths classes.” He always had an excuse that “we had the appointment, so taking post” and the teacher used to say, “Do you keeping a post or eating toast”. He is the Olympic medallist and currently a union minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, telling his story as an NDA alumnus. With these funny memories and experiences, he made all cadets laugh at the hilarious environment.

He also shared lovely memories of NDA, early morning classes, the drill instructors, the PT, Drill square.

Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is a politician and former Olympian. Rathore is a Member of Parliament (MP) from Jaipur Rural seat.

Rathore served as a commissioned officer in The Grenadiers regiment of the Indian Army before retiring in 2013 as a colonel. Following his retirement from the Army and shooting, he became the member of the parliament for the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014.

As of October 2018, he is the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Government of India. He served in Indian Army and retired as Colonel. He is an internationally acclaimed shooter. He won 25 international medals at various championships for Double Trap Shooting including a Silver medal at 2004 Summer Olympics in Men's Double Trap event.
