Continuing to strengthen old relations in New Year; India and Nepal review progressive development in bilateral relations

New Delhi, January 11: Sharing deep connectivity of tradition and escalating relations with commitment of new momentum in relations, India and Nepal have only deepened their friendship and support towards each other. In a new attempt to solidify the diplomacy relationship in the New Year, India and Nepal discussed and agreed on matters of mutual interest.

New Year with old relations, India and Nepal commit towards strengthening relations by deepening their bilateral ties. Reviewing the developments in bilateral ties across various diverse sectors, the two countries have achieved progressive growth in three transformative launches in agriculture, railway and waterways projects. The countries have expressed deep satisfaction at the significant progress intensifying diplomatic relations.

 

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali met on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2019 where the two ministers discussed the progress in their recent initiatives launched in 2018. The pace of implementation of the ongoing bilateral developments and connectivity projects has levelled up their relations.

The two Ministers also reiterated their commitment to maintain the new momentum and to further strengthen the traditionally close and friendly ties between the two countries.

Describing the three initial agreements as “path breaking agreements” to boost connectivity between the two countries, India and Nepal had signed just three new agreements which led to a partnership in agriculture, as well as plans for connectivity through inland waterways and expanding linkages to connect Indian railway lines to Kathmandu — breaking the tradition of signing a long list of documents.

Nepal Foreign Minister Gyawali extended an invitation to the External Affairs Minister to visit Nepal to co-chair the next meeting of the Joint Commission. External Affairs Minister accepted the invitation; the two Ministers decided to hold the next meeting of the Joint Commission at an early date.
