“As part of the celebrations, we have decided to address ex-servicemen issues related to pension and reemployment among others. This is a positive step by the government to reverses for their contribution while safeguarding the Nation.” Said Colonel(retd) Suhas Jatkar who is a Director of Sainik Welfare Maharashtra. As many as 2,000 ex-servicemen from the state will celebrate the first Veterans Day in Pune.

To acknowledge the ex-servicemen’s contribution, Veterans Day on Sunday was celebrated under the aegis of the Chetak Corps in Bathinda, Punjab. Around 400 ex-servicemen from Bathinda, Mansa, Talwandi Sabo, Bakhta Bhai, and Rampura Phool attended the function.


A wreath-laying ceremony was conducted at “Yodha Yaadgar” to pay tributes to the martyrs. The General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps, addressed the gathering and reassured the veterans in clear terms about the Indian Army’s commitment to the well-being of veterans, widows and their dependents.
