January 15, Adelaide: Defeating Australia by six wickets in the second One-day International (ODI) in Adelaide on Tuesday, India has levelled the three-match series 1-1. Captain Virat Kohli and former captain MS Dhoni brilliantly shared a partnership of 82 runs to bring the win for team India.

Marking his 39th ODI century captain Virat Kohli (104) added another victory to his bag. India also made the second highest successful run-chase at the Adelaide Oval.

Chasing a tricky target of 299, India got off to a solid start with openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma as they hit solid 47. Rohit, then scored a crucial 54-run partnership with Kohli, keeping India's run-chase on course.

Kohli and former captain MS Dhoni put together 82 runs for the fourth wicket taking India very close to the target. Towards the end Dhoni along with Dinesh Karthik took India across the line with four balls to spare.

With two of their teammates Hardik Pandya and Opener K L Rahul dismissed from the match for disciplinary actions, all eyes were on the Indian team on how they would perform under the circumstances. But, as Kohli had said earlier, “the team had to adjust to the situation”, the team indeed came out stronger in the 2nd ODI.

The decider of the series will take place in Melbourne on Friday.
