Expansion plans for Numaligarh Refinery; a positive nod from the cabinet

New Delhi, Jan 15: The positive step was taken by the government today for the expansion of Numaligarh Refinery. Cabinet Approved Rs. 22, 594 Cr. for Numaligarh Refinery expansion project.

On Wednesday, the government approved the capacity expansion of Numaligarh refinery in Assam from the current 3 million metric tonnes per annum TO 9 million per annum.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, "the project is to be completed within the period of 48 months after the approval and receipt of statutory clearances."

Further, he said, the expansion project involves setting up a crude oil pipeline from Paradip to Numaligarh and product pipelines from Numaligarh to Siliguri at a cost of Rs. 22, 594 crores.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by PM Narendra Modi, gave its approval to the project for expansion of Numligarh Refinery Assam with the capacity to be expanded from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA.
