Infrastructure development of Malwa region in Punjab, Captain Singh assigns Rs 209 crores
Chandigarh, Jan 19: Development of Punjab will be boosted as the state government announces development grant of ₹209 Cr for strengthening rural & urban infrastructure in Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Patiala, SAS Nagar & Rupnagar districts, constitutes a committee to explore the feasibility of industrial park at Rajpura. This was announced by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
According to an official release, the infrastructure work would be carried out in Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Patiala, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Rupnagar districts under the umbrella programme of Smart Village campaign and Urban Environment Improvement Plan.
These projects will benefit funding various infrastructure works in rural and urban areas of several districts in Malwa region.
Chief Minister asked the MLAs to prioritise the development works within their assembly constituencies and submit the list of works to be undertaken to their concerned Deputy Commissioners by January 31, 2019.
The announcement came during pre-budget deliberations with Congress MLAs of Malwa-I comprising these districts.
In another major development in the state, the Punjab Government on Thursday gave a major boost to the Hi-tech cycles, e-bikes, e-vehicles and light engineering industry of Ludhiana by signing an agreement for allocating 100 acres of land to Hero Cycles Ltd. in the upcoming Hi-Tech Cycle Valley in Village Dhanansu, for the development of a state-of-the-art Industrial Park within the Cycle Valley.
The state government approved the project for setting up of the Hi-Tech Cycle Valley through PSIEC over 380 acres of land at Village Dhanansu, located very close to the industrial city of Ludhiana.
The Chief Minister said that the project shall attract around Rs. 400 crore investment by Hero Cycles Ltd. and its suppliers/ ancillaries, and generate close to 1000 direct employment opportunities. He said the industrial park will have a production capacity of 4 million bicycles per annum and the project shall be implemented within 36 months.
