Another landmark by Power sector: 100% households electrified in 25 states under “Saubhagya Yojana”

New Delhi, Jan 2: The country achieved yet another milestone in the power sector with the completion of electrification in 100% households in 25 states at year end.

Now only about 10.48 lakh households are left to be electrified in the Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, and Assam. These states are tirelessly attempting to achieve as soon as possible, saturation of household electrification.

Since the launch of ‘Saubhagya Yojana’, the state of Uttar Pradesh declared saturation of 75 districts with 74.4 lakhs willing households’ electrification.

 

UP government launched a special campaign in all parts of the state to identify any left out unelectrified household and to provide electrical connections to such households. Under this initiative, a special vehicle “Saubhagya Rath” is moving around in village and towns and search for any willing household may approach to benefit electricity connection under this scheme. With this special vehicle, there is helpline, 1912 for acquiring electricity connection in the household.

The central government launched “Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana” (Saubhagya) in September 2017 for the achievement of the goal of universal household electrification in the country by March 31, 2019.
