New Delhi, Jan 2: Taking strict action against the members AIADMK, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today suspended 26 AIADMK lawmakers who were protesting against the construction of Mekedatu dam.
The disciplinary action was initiated by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan for creating ruckus by coming to the well as well as obstruction of the business.
Expressing displeasure over Lok Sabha speaker’s move, senior AIADMK leader and Dy speaker Thambidurai said, “Protesting is our democratic right”.
Taking objection to the approval of Mekedatu dam, the senior lawmaker said that BJP just for political gains in Karnataka cleared the controversial project. He also mentioned that despite several requests, the central government did little for Tamil Nadu over Mekedatu.
