Chennai, Jan 23: The glorious and ambitious summit of 'Tamil Nadu Global Investors’ Meet 2019' started with keynote address of Defense minister Nirmala Sitaraman. This event was inaugurated by CM of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

 

On this occasion, Nirmala Sitaraman released the ‘Tamil Nadu Aerospace Policy’, CM of Tamil Nadu received the first copy.

 

Encouraged by the success of GIM 2015, the Government of Tamil Nadu is organizing GIM 2019 on 23rd and 24th January 2019. This summit will showcase the competitive strengths and opportunities in Tamil Nadu. Hence, GIM 2019 provides an ideal platform for understanding Tamil Nadu as a preferred Investors’ Choice.

. The objective of this year’s event is positioning Tamil Nadu as investor’s choice, showcasing Tamil Nadu’s potential business opportunities and sector-specific investible projects, the showcasing ease of doing business, presentation of state’s rich culture and heritage.

Tamil Nadu is the 2nd largest economy in India, famous as Automobile capital of the country and yarn bowl of India.

The main focus sectors of this summit are Aerospace and defense, Agro-food processing, Automobile, and Auto components, Chemical and Petrochemicals, electronics and hardware, heavy engineering, IT, Biotechnology, renewable energy, skill development, and textiles.

During the past month, the Tamil Nadu cabinet cleared investment proposals worth Rs 65,000 crore, which is expected to be signed at GIM 2019.

Tamil Nadu hopes that at the end of this two-day event, it will come away with about 140 MoUs worth over Rs. 2.4 Trillion- the amount it claims was committed during the first summit in 2015. The MoUs in the pipeline includes those with Adani Port, Hyundai, GMR, Saint Gobain, and Indian Oil Corporation’ subsidiary, among others.
