The splendid event of PBD ends with grandeur: President Ram Nath Kovind addressed PBD Convention

Varanasi, Jan 24: The three-day mega event of “Pravasi Bharatiya Divas” ends with same Magnificence on Wednesday. In the valedictory session of PBD Convention, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind conferred “Pravasi Bharatiya Samman” to 30 Pravasis, with 2 organization, belonging to 23 countries.

 

In this session, MEA Sushma Swaraj welcomed all and appreciated the enthusiasm of all the Pravasis. She especially thanked President Kovind for accepting rescheduled dates of PBD. 

 

CM of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath also addressed the session and invited everyone for “Kumbh Mela”.

 ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award’ is the highest honor conferred by the President of India as a part of PBD on Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Person of Indian Origin (PIOs) or organization or institution established and run by NRIs or PIOs, who have made a significant contribution in various fields like Better understanding abroad of India; Support to India’s causes and concerns in a tangible way; Building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and their country of residence; Social and humanitarian causes in India or abroad; Welfare of the local Indian community; Philanthropic and charitable work; Eminence in one’s field or outstanding work, which has enhanced India’s prestige in the country of residence or Eminence in skills which has enhanced India’s prestige in that country (for non-professional workers).
 
 

Special Guest and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardee Mr. Himanshu Gulati from Norway delivered a vote of thanks on behalf of all the awardees. He quoted the Norwegian Tour Gospel and said, “Borders; I have never seen them, but I hear that they exist in the minds of some people.”

 

While addressing the session, President Ram Nath Kovind said, “Indian cultural fabric and ethos has been enriched with every passing phase, but now, we added a new chapter, when we involved a journey to connect and embrace our brothers and sisters around the world.”

 

He stated, “You people are commanding global heights today while embracing your cultural ethos and diversity while doing this, you presented your self as a unit as a community.”

He further added, India today is land on billion ideas. India today is a land of billion opportunities.

While recognizing the contribution of Indian Diaspora, he said, “Happy to have conferred the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman on 30 members of our diaspora. We value your committed efforts to promote India and to work for the welfare of Indian community abroad. You are a living bridge between India and the world.

He appreciated Indian government and said, “In the last few years, India work hard to connects its 1.3 billion people with its 31million strong diaspora.”

In the address, President Kovind emphasized the role of Indian Diaspora plays and can play in the building of ‘New India’.

Minister of State, General V.K.Singh delivered a vote of thanks for the successful conduct of the 15th PBD Convention.
