East or West, Indian tourism is always at its best! Now proved by the New York Times Travel Show

New York, January 29: India bagged the Award of Excellence for ‘Best in Show’ at the recently concluded New York Times Travel Show 2019. It is the largest travel show in North America, which was held from January 25 to 27 in New York, USA.

 

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India participated as the ‘ Presenting Partner’ in the 16th New York Times Travel Show organised at Jacob K Javits Centre, Manhattan with a view to scale up its tourism promotional efforts in the US, enhance India’s visibility and to increase its share of US Outbound travel market.

 
 

Over 500 exhibitors representing 150 countries separated into 14 Pavilions were on hand to speak about booking dream vacations in the show. The New York Times Travel Industry Conference offers a comprehensive education program designed for travel professionals. Travel professionals get the opportunity to attend exclusive seminars as well as visit over 500 exhibitors in the largest travel trade exhibition in North America during the course of three days.

A high level delegation led by Mr Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and a number of stakeholders from India’s tourism industry participated in the Show.

India organised a number of India centric activities including 'Focus on India' and consumer seminars, Indian cultural performances, Indian culinary demonstration, food tasting with others.

 
 

The Tourism Secretary also interacted with a number of leading travel professionals from the US at the trade key note session during the show and sought their continued support in positioning India in the US.

During the closing bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange, India was honoured with the award.

Meanwhile, neighbour country China’s exhibition also turned out to be a highlight of the New York Times Travel Show with distinctive Chinese cultural elements familiar to Americans, such as huge posters of giant pandas and Spring Festival decorations surrounding the booth.
