Gangajal Project inaugurated by the Prime Minister in Agra

January 9, Agra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched civic projects worth Rs 2,980 crore during his visit to Agra on Wednesday. He launched the Gangajal project to provide better and more assured water supply and also laid the foundation stone for an Integrated Command and Control Centre for the Agra Smart City project.

The PM was welcomed by a huge crowd eager to hear his speech. “Not only UP, but entire country has showered me with their blessings. I have always tried staing true to all your expectations and will always continue working for you and the nation”, Modi said in his address.

 

“It is a result of your support that the smart city mission has reached new heights. The Gangajal project is mainly related to water, education and health, which will be the key for making Agra a smart city. I would like congratulate you all for making it possible”, he addressed to the crowds.

 

PM Modi also thanked Japan for their support in the project. “These Rs 3000 cr that are invested in this project is all dedicated to you and the lakhs of families that will get pure water through the project”, he further added.

The smart city project is meant to develop the tourism destination as a modern world-class city. The Gangajal programme will provide Agra with better water supply, benefitting both the residents of the city as well as tourists. Before this Agra was in a tough situation because of salted water on one side and polluted water on the other side when the UP government came up with the idea of connecting Ganga River with Agra.

 

The PM also introduced other projects such as cement system project that is going on, sewage network project, and ‘Rail Setu Lokarpan’. He inaugurated a heliport. Besides, the SN Medical College in Agra will be upgraded with a 100-bed maternity wing. PM mentioned this a part of Pradhan Mantra Swastha Yojana.

 

The PM also mentioned the bill passed in Lok Sabha yesterday saying, “Entire country witnessed how loksabha passed an historic bill yesterday. Many years after the independence, considering the situation of inequality in the country, we have tried to resolve the issues”.

 

He also spoke in defence of the Minister of Defence Nirmala Sitharaman, “We are proud of our daughter who has become the first Defence minister of our country and that for the first time a woman is taking responsibility of security of the entire country on her shoulders. But when the lady spoke against the opposition party in parliament unmasking their faults, they were all left shocked. They got so scared that they felt the need to insult her which is not only her insult but all the ladies’ insult from the nation. The irresponsible people will have to pay the price for this”.

 

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath also attended the ceremony and thanked PM Modi for his presence. “The prime minister has honoured the people by his presence today. After giving ‘sabka saath aur sabka vikas’ slogan, for the announcement that he has given for extra 10% reservation in the country, I congratulate him. Also it is a result of his revolutionary decisions, that the natives of agra have gathered here for the inauguration of this project”, Yogi Adityanath addressed in his speech.
