Gujjar Andolan in Rajasthan: enters in the 6th day, Government likely to take the decision today

Jaipur, Feb 13: The Gujjar agitation started from 8th Feb, today entered in the 6th day with no solid decision or notification on the matter. After trains and Bus blocks, today agitators now planning to stop the milk supply.

The Gujjar agitation for 5% reservation in jobs and education institution started on Friday, 8th Feb, under the leadership of Kirori Singh Baisla.

The mobile internet services have been suspended in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district till Feb 13 in the wake of ongoing Gujjar reservation protests, Meanwhile, the District Collector has issued a notice to Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla, asking him to vacate the railway tracks yesterday.

Due to agitation, the important examinations are also suspended.

Bainsla said yesterday, ”He was not spearheading the agitation but people of the state are making him do so, Movement is not being spearheaded by me; it’s the people who are making me do it. These people have said it categorically that this time no negotiations will be done in Jaipur, negotiations should take place here in their presence”.

CM Ashok Gehlot stated yesterday that a big decision can be taken today to end the agitation.

Past Gujjar agitations had compelled the state government to enact an Act in 2008 and 2015 to provide special reservation to the Gujjars, who earlier got reservation under the OBC category, by carving out a special category called as a special backward class.
