Jaipur, Feb 13: The agitation started on 8 Feb by Gujjar community for their demand for 5% reservation in Jobs and Educational institutions. This agitation came to the fruitful result. CM Ashok Gehlot’s government introduced a bill in Assembly about 5% reservations to Gujjar and other 5 communities.

On this decision, Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Biansla stated, we yet to call off their protest, we are waiting “Concrete proposal” from the government which directly indicating towards the bill to be passed first.

The government introduced the Rajasthan Backward Classes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutes in the State and of Appointments and Posts in Services under the State) Amendment Bill, 2019, for giving reservation to Gujjars and the other castes.

The bill was presented in the Rajasthan Assembly by Energy Minister B D Kalla to pacify members of the Gujjar community who have been holding demonstrations since Friday across the state for quota. They blocked the Delhi-Mumbai railway track and several highways and roads.

Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and his supporters have started the agitation through the blocking of railway tracks in Sawai Madhopur district and several highways, demanding the quota in government jobs and educational institutes.
