"Do not air content promotes anti-national attitudes or contains anything affecting the integrity of the nation": Media Advisory released

New Delhi, February 14: After the most heartening Islamic terror attack in Awantipora, Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, at least 42 CRPF jawans have lost their lives on Thursday evening making every Indian's heart weep, all Private Satellite TV channels have been requested to adhere to the guidelines issued on the coverage of terror attacks.
The statement issued by the I&B ministry states: On various occasions in the past, this Ministry has issued advisories for Private Satellite TV channels to broadcast content strictly in adherence to the Programme and Advertising Code as prescribed in the Cable Television Networks (Regulations) Act, 1995 and the rules framed thereunder.
On Tuesday, two buses in the Central Reserve Police Force convoy were hit in the high-intensity IED blast. Dozens of people were also injured in the attack. The death toll is likely to rise. The terrorists targeted a convoy of CRPF which had around 70 vehicles and nearly 2500 personnel and was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar.
Pakistan backed Islamic terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the terror attack, in a text message to Kashmiri News Agency GNS.

In light of the recent terrorist attack, TV Channels are adviced to be particularly cautious with regard to any content which is likely to encourage or incite violence or contains anything against maintenance of law and order or which promotes anti-national attitudes and contains anything affecting the integrity of the nation and ensure that no such content is telecast which is violative of these Codes.
All private satellite TV channels are requested to ensure strict compliance of the above.
