Srinagar, February 14: Violating the ceasefire and now attacking the security forces, the terrorists have stooped down low in their coward attempts. In a continuing series of attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, a Central reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy was attacked by terrorists, wherein 12 CRPF jawans lost their lives and a dozen were injured in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on Thursday.

While the Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack, the use of an improvised explosive device (IED), security forces claimed, indicated a sharp shift in tactics by terrorist groups, in the valley. The terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad identified the suicide bomber as as Adil Ahmad Dar alias Waqas Commando of Gundibagh, Pulwama. Adil Ahmad Alias Waqar, a resident of Pulwama, was the man driving the car that rammed the 55-seater CRPF bus. Such a car bomb suicide attack is happening after several years.

The convoy of two buses carrying paramilitary personnel from 54th CRPF Battalion was caught in a high intensity IED blast, followed by gunfire from militants on the Jammu-Srinagar highway near Goripora area of Awantipora region which led to the casualties. The death toll is expected to rise.

Pakistan backed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack. CRPF top officials just confirmed to me death of 18 personnel in the Naxalite-type fidayeen attack on the convoy near Letapora. Full bus destroyed. 44 personnel injured. Toll can rise further & surpass even the fatal casualties of Uri fidayeen attack.
