CBDT feels pleased to have Pramod Chandra Mody as its new Chief..!

New Delhi, February 15: After Sunil Chandra headed to chair as the new Election Commissioner of India, Pramod Chandra Mody takes over as the new chairman of the CBDT. Chandra was currently serving as the president of the CBDT till May 2019. Mody was welcomed by Neena Kumar, Member, CBDT as he joined the new post on Friday morning.

 

  

The policy making body of the Income Tax Department will be handled by the 1982-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre) officer. The officer, who has worked in various capacities in the I-T Department, has been working as the Member (Administration) in the CBDT long before.

Mody is assumed to hold the office till June this year. The CBDT is headed by a chairman and can have a maximum of six members. After the latest appointment, there is a vacancy of two more members in the board, reported the statement.

Meanwhile the Members of CBDT felicitated the outgoing Chairman, CBDT Sushil Chandra in North Block on 15th of February, as Chandra moves on to join as the Election Commissioner. “Income Tax India wishes him the best for his new assignment!”, wished the department he served earlier. Chandra’s role was crucial in the Union budget as direct taxes remained the biggest element of the annual Finance Bill.
