Odisha victorious in Sports sector, Wins the Award for ‘Best state in sports promotion’

Mumbai/Bhubaneshwar, Feb 16: Odisha has an indisputable position in Indian sports ecosystem. Odisha accomplished another achievement in the sports sector. Odisha won the ‘Best state for Promotion of Sports’ award at the prestigious Sportstar Ace Awards 2019 for Successful organization of Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018.

 

The Award received by CM Naveen Patnaik from Indian Chess Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand in a magnificent ceremony at Mumbai on February 15.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also in the race for the award, but for the organization of the mega event, Odisha sealed her name on the trophy.

On this occasion, CM Naveen Patnaik thanked the jury members for the recognition and dedicating the award to ‘Four and a half crore Sports-loving people of Odisha’. 

 

He said, The involvement of a state in sports development in the country. Every state and its people are passionate about some sport. For example, hockey in Odisha. In a pioneering step, the government of Odisha is the official sponsor of the national hockey teams, both men and women. I believe that investment in sports is an investment for the youth, investment in the youth is an investment in the future. ”

On this occasion, CM Patnaik emphasized the importance if the participation of states in the promotion and developing sports in the country. He said, “If the states start adopting one or two games, it will hugely benefit the sports ecosystem in the country. Only when states are involved, we can broaden the catchment for sports talent. We may not have to wait for too long for the world to hear our national anthem being played on the Olympics stage”.
