February 8: Becoming the first ever film from its genre to get such massive applause from the audience, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ marked historical milestone today. In only a span of 28 days, ‘Uri’ has cashed Rs 200 crores becoming the biggest success story in recent times.

Not a single ‘mid-range’ film has achieved this feat before ‘Uri’. The fact that the film took less than a month to hit double century at the box office is considered a new benchmark for success after the dilution of the Rs 100 crore mark. To put a cherry on top, the film has made over Rs 300 crore worldwide.

Another highlight of the success is that no other Hindi movie, be it low, medium or high budgeted, has challenged or beaten the records of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi). But ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ registered the highest ever day 23 and 24 totals, beating the previous records, set by the Prabhas starrer Baahubali: The Conclusion, one of the biggest hits the country has ever seen. Its week four collection is also in the same range as the SS Rajamouli magnum opus.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, “Uri” is based on the true events of the Uri attacks in 2016 and how the Indian Army took the fight to the enemy, carrying the surgical strike on seven terrorist launch-pads across the Line of Control, its most successful covert operation till date, with one and only one objective, to avenge their fallen heroes.

Although previously, Bollywood’s Rs 200 crore-plus club has been dominated by films starring higher experienced Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, with the exceptions being Ranbir Kapoor for Sanju, Ranveer Singh for Simba and Hritik Roshan for Krrish 3, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ again stands out for not having any of the ‘big budget’ actors.

Yet, the actors are stealing the hearts of millions with their phenomenal performances. Along with the male protagonist Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina and Paresh Rawal in Pivotal roles. Getting flooded with praises for his outstanding performance, Vicky Kaushal has surely made a name for himself in the A-listers of Bollywood.

The youth all over the nation hailing the movie, showering patriotism and posting videos over the social media of the film’s prominent dialogue “How’s the Josshh..High Sir!”, the film has done a fantastic job in binding the nation together.
