Andhra Pradesh: PM Modi to kick-start poll drive from Kurnool

Vijayawada, Mar 25: In a bid to improve the strike rate of BJP in upcoming Lok Sabha and state assembly polls of Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address two rallies in the coastal state.

Confirming the campaign schedule on Sunday, Senior BJP leaders and Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao said that on March 29, PM Modi will address the first Vijay Sankalp Sabha at Kurnool and the second meeting will take place on April 1 where Modi will attend the public meeting in Rajamahendravaram. During these meetings, BJP National President Amit Shah along with other state BJP leaders will remain present.

Rao also informed that On March 26, Union Minister Piyush Goyal will release the manifesto of AP BJP in Vijayawada. In Andhra Pradesh, 25 Lok Sabha segments and 175-member state assembly will go to poll on April 11.


In this election, State BJP In-charge Kanna Lakshminarayana will contest from Narasaraopeta and former Union Minister and senior leader Daggubati Purandhareswari will contest from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha segment.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi addressed two meetings in Guntur and Visakhapatnam where he slammed Chandra Babu Naidu led TDP government for not fulfilling the promise made to the people of Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, Naidu on various platforms accused BJP of non-cooperation on the issue of special category status. In March last year, after the long stint of four years with NDA, the yellow army had severed poll ties with BJP.
