Mumbai, March 26: “Knowledge would be the driver of Indian Economy and will play a vital role in improving living conditions of people. India must rise to the occasion and reorient its higher education system to be globally competitive”, said Vice President M Venkhaiah Naidu awarding the graduates at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development in the capital city of Maharashtra.

Further urging the nation’s youth to come up with out of the box, creative and dynamic solutions pressing problems at hand, Naidu said that there is a need to rethink and re-evaluate our approach to developmental issues so that we always stay ahead of the times.
India, as an emerging economy is constantly enacting new laws and regulations at par with international best practices. “Tax reforms are slowly increasing India’s tax base and shifting social norms to one where the majority is willing to pay tax rather than avoiding it”, he affirmed.
“Building Social Infrastructure such as primary education, healthcare, waste management facilities, development of new small towns, renovation of existing towns and connecting them with local industries of existing metropolitan cities would be of utmost importance”, he added further.
Congratulating the Indian future, Naidu signed off saying, “The time has come for India to once again emerge as the global knowledge hub. Our seats of learning, especially universities, must reinvent themselves as hubs of vibrant intellectual pursuit with academic excellence and social relevance as touchstones of success”.
Stressing at the economic education as a medium and a catalyst towards nation building, he said, "Education is not only for employment. It should empower the individual with knowledge and wisdom to sift wheat from chaff. Access to quality education for all and at all levels is essential to ensure Inclusive Growth and prevent any kind of discrimination"
