March 4: Continuing the string of success for off-beat movies, ‘Luka Chuppi’ has made a name for itself within only three days of its release. The Kartik Aaryan- Kriti Sanon starrer earned one of the biggest openings on Box-office this year and has been receiving positive response from audience all over the country.

Commenting on the success, Film’s producer Dinesh Vijan said, “film-makers have realised only good content will make the cut as the audience today is exposed to global content and expects nothing less from Bollywood”.

Starting with Rs 8.01 crore on the release day the total weekend collection shot up to Rs 32.13 crore in the first weekend for ‘Luka Chuppi’.

The Romantic-Comedy revolves around Guddu played by Kartik Aaryan, who falls in love with a headstrong woman Rashmi played by Kriti Sanon. The couple explores the concept of live-in relationships in the small town only to get things turn upside down for them as their families wrongly assume that they are married.

The family entertainer that released in over 2100 screens across the country, ‘Luka Chuppi’ has been able to pull the crowd towards the screens, especially the younger generation. The film became a bit more special for Kartik Aaryan as he saw the biggest opening of his career with it.

In an interview with PTI, Director Dinesh Vijan said, “With the spread of digital medium, the audience is completely aware of the quality of content. You can't fool them anymore. That can't happen. Look at the year we have had, from 'Stree' to 'Badhaai Ho' to 'Uri'. It clearly shows content is the future”. Vijan, who has backed projects like "Badlapur", "Hindi Medium" and "Stree" through his Maddock films, said what was “safe” earlier, isn't anymore.

Directed by Laxman Utekar ‘Luka Chuppi’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Vinay Pathak and Alka Amin in key roles.

Meanwhile, ‘Sonchiriya’ which also released on March 1 has not been able to attract the mass crowd despite of receiving critical acclaim.
