Another step towards the welfare of Fishermen, 20 fishing jetties would be constructed across the country

New Delhi, Mar 6: Government is taking positive steps for the overall development of Business in the country. Due to the huge coastal area, fishing is one of the most important businesses in India. For promotion the fishing and for benefit of fishermen community, Government announced the construction of 20 new jetties across the country.

On Tuesday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “20 fishing jetties would be constructed across the country at a cost of 4,132 crores for the benefit of the fishermen community”.

He announced this project while addressing the people through video conference after laying the foundation stone for the new fishing jetty at near kulai. He also inaugurated road development work under Sangarmala and Bharathmala projects at a function held at New Mangalore Port in Panambur, Karnataka.

On this occasion, Gadkari stated that the Kulai Jetty could accommodate 300 boats and would be completed by May 2022.

The cost of this project is Rs. 196 crores. New Mangalore Port Trust will place share of 45%, the Union Government 50% and state government will put 5%.

This whole project will be completely maintained by NMPT.
