Uttarakhand farmers to get wheat bonus; CM Rawat announces extra Rs 20 on per quintal

Dehradun, March 6: Farmers in Uttarakhand will get a bonus of Rs 20 on per quintal of wheat sold. Directives to this effect were issued by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday.


 

The Centre had fixed the MSP of wheat at Rs 1,840 per quintal. The Chief Minister had directed that farmers should get a bonus of Rs 20 per quintal of wheat sold by them as an addition, an official release here said.

In his tweet, CM Rawat said, "On the purchase of wheat, instructions have been given to give farmers a bonus of 20 paise per bag. The center has fixed minimum support price of wheat Rs. 1840 per quintal. There will also be a bonus of 20 rupees per bonus. Immediate payment of wheat will be ensured from farmers."
 
Immediate payment should be made to farmers for the wheat purchased from them, he said. CM Rawat is reviewing preparations for wheat procurement during the rabi marketing session 2019-20.
 
 

All payments to farmers would be through an online system, he said and added all dues would be cleared with immediate effect. The government targets to procure 2 million tonnes wheat this year.

CM Rawat asked the Agriculture Department officials to increase the number of godowns with over 1 million capacity.
