Anantnag, December 20: Officials said most of the medicines available at Unani and Panchkarma Hospital located in Lal Chowk area of Anantnag town were found expired after which it was sealed.
“The hospital was raided following complaint by a man that her daughter was provided expired medicines,” an official said.
He said that the patient was provided Septilin, a pediatric drug with batch no. H701003E, expiry date October 2012 at the medicine counter by the pharmacist after the same was prescribed by a doctor of the hospital.
“The complaint was found genuine,” said Tehsildar Islamabad, Muzaffar Ahmad.
He said that after thorough verification many other medicines available at the pharmacy of the hospital were also found expired.
“We have sealed the hospital and taken into custody the owner of the hospital along with a pharmacist,” the Tehsildar said. “We will also see if the hospital was registered or functioning in violation of norms,” the Tehsildar said.
However, official sources said the hospital was running without registration. “The hospital was sealed earlier also by the authorities for flouting norms but it started operations again,” an official said.
