Nagpur, Oct 26: Devi Ahalya Mandir is not just a building but an institution of perennial inspiration and energy for the women, observed Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan here on Sunday.

Mahajan was speaking as chief guest at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Devi Ahalya Mandir Trust. Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the largest organization of Hindu women worldwide, Shantakka and Vice President of the Trust Jaishree Khandekar shared the dais. Former Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, and the moving matriarch of Devi Ahalya Mandir Pramila Tai Medhe was honoured at the hands of Mahajan and Shantakka on this occasion in recognition of her contribution to the cause espoused by Devi Ahalya Mandir Trust.

Sumitra Mahajan, who owe allegiance and grooming to Rashtra Sevika Samiti since her early days, said i this emotionally surcharged program that this building was constructed with the money earned from collections at Ramayana discourses by Vandaniya Maushi Kelkar, founder o Devi Ahalya Mandir Trust and Rashtra Sevika Samiti. “This is a pious place. This is a perennial source of inspiration and values like a banyan tree”, she said.

Appealing to womenfolk to imbibe virtues of motherhood, leadership and achievements in life and disseminate these values to their children. Ahalya Mandir has created live ideals of these values and virtues who led others by their own examples, the Lok Sabha Speaker said.  

Confessing with pride that she was influenced by the character building sanskars of Devi Ahalya Mandir that inspired her to jump into the public life and earn success, Sumitra Mahajan said that these virtues and values reflected in my personality compelled the people to get me elected eight times in succession to Lok Sabha, thus proving the success rate of these values beyond any doubt.

She said India has nothing to worry so long as there are institutions like Devi Ahalya Mandir that go on inspiring people to purge the social life of all impurities mixing in it from various sources.

Mahjan also released a book titled “Matruttva, Kartruttva, Netruttva” on this occasion. She appealed to parents, particularly to mothers to make their children virtue conscious rather than ‘package conscious’. They are not just money minting machines, bring them up has human beings, better humans, she appealed.

In her very brief speech Shantakka, who heads the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, said that this building of Devi Ahalya Smarak Samiti is not just like any other building, it is throbbing with life because of the presence of great dedicated and devoted and committed souls like Pramilatai Medhe and Chitratai Joshi. Pramilatai Medhe also replied to her felicitation stating that devotion of sevikas converted this building into a temple of learning.

Students from northeast India who stay here and pursue their studies, presented a song on the life of Devi Ahalyabai. Chitratai Joshi made the introductory remarks. She described this building as a storehouse of bliss and happiness.

The program was attended by former Pramukh Sanchalika Ushatai Chati, Swamini Brahmaprakashananda, VNIT Chairman Vishram Jamdar, Senior RSS Pracharak Dr Shankarrao Tattvvadi, Vice-Chancellor of Kavikulguru Kalidas University Dr Uma Vaidya, former MP Banwarilal Purohit, Prof A W Vyavahare, Dr Sanjeevani and Sanjeev Kelkar, and many others.
