California, November 4: Effective from Wednesday, Twitter is following the Facebook trend of ‘Like’ button, converting ‘Favourite’ star shaped icon into heart shape and while naming it as ‘like’.
According to official statement of Twitter, it said, “We are changing our star icon for favorites to a heart and we’ll be calling them likes”.
The release said “We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers”.
Mentioning their point, Twitter pointed out that “Twitter user might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite”.“The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones”.
The statement also said, “The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it”.
As twitter had already launched the heart icon on Periscope, the video section of twitter and hence delighted the same heart icon replacing favourite star to Twitter and Vine, making them the common language for our global community.
Starting today, users can see hearts on Twitter for iOS and Android, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and on Tweets across the Internet, as well as on the Vine Android app and website.
