Mumbai, December 7: As the year 2015 comes to an end with mere few weeks remaining, Twitter India on Monday retrospect the most retweeted tweet of the year which is also termed as ‘’Golden Tweet’’.

The Golden tweet of 2015 was by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan when he meet Former One Direction band member Zyan Malik at the Asian Awards in London earlier this year in April.


According to official statement of Twitter, “The Golden Tweet for India in 2015 is from Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk), who Tweeted a selfie with British boy band One Direction’s former member, Zayn Malik (@zaynmalik), at the Asian Awards in London in April 2015”.

Twitter added, while each Tweet is unique, only one can be named the 2015 “Golden Tweet”: The most Retweeted Tweet of the year.

It took Twitter by storm garnering over 140,000 Retweets and viewed nearly 18.3 million times globally on Twitter as fans of both artists were thrilled to see the two together in this rare selfie moment.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan stood at second position in list top 10 of most followed celebrity in India with 16.5 million (1.65 cr) followers. Amitabh Bachchan continues to be at number one position with 18.1 million (1.81cr) in India to be most followed on Twitter, says Twitter India.

Last years the most retweeted tweet was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “India has won! भारत की विजय। अच्छे दिन आने वाले हैं।“ tweet. More than 76 thousand people retweeted this tweet after PM Modi declared his general election win last year on May 16 which was also result day.

In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood at the third position in India with the 16.4 million (1.64cr) of followers. PM Modi is the only politican to have such huge followers on twitter and second in the world after US President Barack Obama with 66 million (6.6cr).

Twitter every year retrospect the most shared, discussed, and talked issues on twitter with specific result. Twitter played major role in revolution, precisely, in politics and social issues. Not only local but even world problems are discussed through this social media platoform.
